Huyle Q: let's go have a drink to relieve some stress. Câu này đúng khi người nói particularly mention "stress". Còn nói đại loại (generally) "giải sầu thì không 1 người Mỹ nào nói "release/relieve unhappyness" cả.
Huyle : dịch như thế này là do người dịch suy nghĩ = tiếng Việt rồi dịch ra tiếng Anh. Dịch là tìm chữ tương đương với chữ, expression tương đương với expression, idiom tđ với idioms.

Huyle : you can speak a perfectly grammatical sentence but an American/English does not know what the heck you are talking about since you think the sentence in Vietnamese and translate it in your head to English. Unless you do your thinking in English, you won't speak English straight.

Cuucuu : @Huy Per your logic, the Americans don't drink for any other reason than "for fun". Per your logic, there's no such thing as Vietnamese Ministry Office of Foreign Affairs, just Vietnamese State Department :-)
Cuucuu : I have made my point amply clear. There is NO reason to defer your own ideas and concepts to some foreign masters out there. It's a choice of respecting your cultural identity or of forgoing the self-determination of your own language and concepts
